Unless you frequent area hotels —which is not something we hear often— you may not know who we are or what we do. That’s OK. Because when you advertise with Traverse Traveler it’s not about us, it’s about YOU. You and the customers you hope to gain.
Our products and services are made for, and distributed to, travelers. We’re in their hotel lobby, in the room and in the hands of guests as they make plans for the day.

Visitor Channel
What – 40-60 minute HD advertainment loop. The visitor channel runs a mixture of :30-:45 second ads and 1-3 minute sponsored content to form the loop.
How – We insert our channel into the hotels cable system. Over half our locations TV’s automatically turn on to our channel when TV is turned on. In hotels that aren’t able to choose a default channel we work with housekeeping to check TVs daily and select the channel so it appears when guests turn their TV.
Where – Available in-room with 28 lodging partners in Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau & Antrim counties. See a full list of our locations here.
Key Differentiators
Each video plays a minimum of once per hour depending on the current length of our loop. Our average loop length is 45 minutes.
The visitor channel plays in-room in hotels, resorts, campgrounds across Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie and Antrim county. Click here to see a complete list of locations.
Roughly half of the properties are digital which allow us to program the TVs to turn on to our visitor channel. In the rest of the properties we work with housekeeping to make sure the TV is set to our channel when they turn the room.
We now publish all of our video content on our Traverse Traveler YouTube channel. You can view our current channel lineup on the Now Playing playlist, as well as individual videos organized by subject such as Traverse City Restaurants, Traverse City Attractions, Grand Traverse Commons. Advertisers may embed these videos on their website as well.
The short answer is sometimes yes. We’ve learned what works—and what doesn’t work—to get travelers to walk through your door because they heard about you from our channel. If the video doesn’t do that job, we’ve failed to do ours. To answer the question specifically, we’ll take a look at the video you’d like to run and compare it to our checklist for success. If it checks enough boxes then yes, you can run it. If not, we might suggest some edits to help reach our audience, or we’ll come up with a plan to build something new together.
Traverse Traveler retains the rights to content we subsidize and produce. This helps us keep your costs low and provide the highest quality production for a consistent product. We want you to have access to the final product to share, so we now publish all of our video content on YouTube and provide you with links to embed on your website or share on social media. Creative license and copyright remains with Traverse Traveler/Visitors Media.
We accept cash or check for annual and quarterly payments. For monthly payments you must be set-up as ACH or pay with a credit card.

Little Cards
What – Traverse Traveler’s little cards have been helping travelers since 2001. Each of our displays have 30 spots and hold 50 cards per spot. On average we print and distribute 10,000 cards per customer annually.
How – We pride ourselves on making sure little cards are always there when guests need them. Our professional distribution team exchanges each display with a fresh one before it’s needed. Our distribution is the best. It is one reason hotels prefer to keep our display on or close to their front desk.
Where – In lobby and front desk locations across Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau & Antrim counties. See all our locations here.
Key Differentiators
Our little card displays are located in the lobby of area hotels, motels, resorts, wineries and attractions in Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau and Antrim county. We choose primarily lodging locations as well as high traffic visitor sites for great visibility. Click here for a complete list of locations.
Apart from a handful of seasonal locations which are open from May-October, we refill displays year-round in every location on an as needed basis. That can range from once/month to weekly, depending on the traffic to the display. With every hotel visit we have the chance to meet new staff, maintain the display and manage location changes to maximize distribution.
We love it when customers find the cards useful in-house. Many of our advertisers use the little cards in place of business cards or as a handout at off-site events. Just note that our print quantity is based on what we need for hotel distribution. If you use them in-house you may need to print more cards or print more frequently.
It is different for everyone, and also depends on how many you use in-house. It takes 3,500 cards just to fill the displays, so we print 10,000 cards to cover a year. If you plan to use the cards in-house you may want to increase the print to 15,000.
We design and print all Traverse Traveler cards in-house so we can provide all customers with a consistent, custom product. However, we are happy to work with your designer to ensure the design supports your brand standards. We’ll collect any assets you have including logos, fonts, graphics and messaging to build a card that is consistent with your image. And you’ll approve the design before we print.
Our card display locations are primarily lodging locations and high-traffic visitor sites. If you’d like to have a full display at your business let us know and we’ll check it out.
We accept cash or check for annual and quarterly payments. For monthly payments you must be set-up as ACH or pay with a credit card. Print costs are due before cards go to press. The annual contract starts when cards are delivered or distribution begins.
Lobby Digital Signage
What – We provide lobby digital signage for many of our lodging partners to welcome guests, market themselves and promote local businesses. It’s formatted with 3 zones, similar to what you might see on ESPN except each zone has content relevant to the traveler. The hotel controls the main zone for promotions, VIP welcome messages and property branding. We manage the side zone with a daily and 3-day weather forecast, and the bottom section is reserved for banner ads.
Banner Ads – Custom designed 10-second static or animated banners run in a loop 24-7-365. Think of them like a mini indoor billboard by the front desk. Banners can be purchase as single ads that run year-round, or changable ads, which allow for banners to be replaced throughout the year. Great for event promotion!
Weather Sponsorship – We reserve the space above the weather for one advertiser. One logo to rule them all.
Where – In hotel lobbies in Grand Traverse, Leelanau & Antrim counties. See our locations here.
